a land of history and traditions
Umbria is a land of wonderful landscapes, cultural and religious treasures, great wine and food traditions. Located in the centre of Italy, as if it were its epicentre, Umbria is one of the Italian smallest but lushest and best preserved regions.
In the last few years some of the best Italian wines have been produced here from native vine varieties as the noble Sagrantino, Sangiovese and Trebbiano (the last two can also be found in other regions of Italy).
The vegetation here is luxuriant and abundant, most of it being woodland where old farmhouses, towers, ancient castles and small medieval villages lie hidden: many breathtaking glimpses, each of which is worth a shot or picture to keep the extraordinary beauty of the moment and the uniqueness of the view alive. There are so many enchanting and worth seeing spots that choosing among them is very difficult, but just to mention some, Villa Fidelia in Spello, Piazza Grande in Gubbio and Eremo delle Carceri in Assisi are surely worth a visit.

Umbria: The territory
Here you’ll forget about big shopping malls and chain stores as you’ll only find small traditional shops and workshops, where craftsmen have never given up the ancient and almost lost traditions of their forefathers. The silence and sense of peace that you can enjoy in these small villages can’t be found anywhere else.
Local cuisine is simple and extremely tasty and savoury.
Just choose among the many wine and food routes of the area and don’t forget to buy chocolate, olive oil, truffle, the typical torta al testo (typical Umbrian stuffed flatbread), pecorino cheese, the famous prosciutto di Norcia (ham) and last but not least the great local wines (which cannot easily be found elsewhere).
