Wine holiday to discover Langhe, Dogliani and Monferrato
Barolo, Barbaresco and Alba in one word: Langhe. The twelve hills known as Langhe (UNESCO World Heritage) and the registered name of Dogliani have made the province of Cuneo, situated in the southern part of the Piemonte region, famous all over the world.
Words cannot express the beauty and charm of this landscape. To fully enjoy the delightful atmosphere of this beautiful land you can admire the view from the Belvedere di La Morra point: from here you will experience a fascinating and breathtaking sight that will give you an amazing feeling of peacefulness and serenity.
You may well have heard about Camillo Cavour who played an important man in the history of this territory. Camillo Cavour had a great passion for wine and introduced the first technical innovations in wine production to the region. His presence can still be felt in the Grinzane Cavour fortress (the ancient Cavour’s home), where you will also find the Enoteca Regionale Piemontese (Piedmontese Regional Enoteca).
You will need more than one weekend to completely enjoy and discover this region. Dogliani and the whole Langhe region offer a great variety of food and wine routes, guided winery tours, wine and food tastings, where hazelnuts and truffles feature in the sublime cuisine of this region. To fully experience and appreciate the region don’t forget to sleep at a winery rather than a hotel, you will enjoy an unforgettable experience!
A little less known is the area of Monferrato, a region bordering with the districts of Langhe and Roero, which extends between the province of Alessandria and the province of Asti as far as the Appennino Ligure.
This territory has always been highly known for its many castles, its smooth hills and its delicious wines.
As well as Langhe and Roero, the area of Monferrato has been recently recognized as World Heritage.
The rich history and traditions of this land that can be still felt today make this area really worth seeing. To live a unique and unforgettable experience in Piedmont do not forget to discover the many beautiful churches, the enchanting castles, the breathtaking peaceful landscapes and to try the many tasty traditional dishes and delicious local wines.
