From Valtellina to Oltrepo’ Pavese
The name Lombardy brings to mind old flavours, lakes, mountains, hills and plains. The landscape variety is reflected in a wide range of wines. Over the last few years this region has become well known and has set a benchmark in Italy for its production of sparkling wines thanks to the many wineries of Francicorta and Oltrepò Pavese.
Lombardy is also well known for its excellent red wines from the steep terraces of the Valtellina and the smoother ones from the Valcaepio hills; for the fine, fruity, mineral white wines in the Lugana region, and, last but not least, for the rosé (including the famous Chiaretto) produced on the morainic hills and along the coasts of Lake Garda in the province of Brescia.
In autumn you can enjoy delicious local dishes including soups, stews and polenta, although this region has something beautiful to offer in every season of the year.

You can choose among a lot of opportunities: charming lakes with their small, ancient and romantic villages on the coasts standing there to witness past times; Milan, the capital of fashion with its glamour clubs and the promenades along the wine routes by the rivers; small villages listed in the Borghi più Belli d’Italia like the enchanting Lovere from where you can admire the panorama of Lake Iseo and have a boat ride calling at different coastal villages, or Sabbioneta with its peaceful atmosphere, its “Corridor Grande” art gallery and its famous Chiesa dell’Incoronata church.
